21 Cebu towns already COVID-19 free


CEBU CITY—Twenty-one out of the 44 towns in Cebu province no longer have active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

          In data released by the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) on November 8, the 21 towns with zero COVID-19 cases were Alcantara, Alcoy, Aloguinsan, Asturias, Badian , Barili, Borbon, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Moalboal, Oslob, Poro, Pilar, Ronda, Samboan, San Francisco, Santander, Sibonga, Sogod, Tabuelan, and Tabogon.

          IPHO Chief Dr. Christina Giango said the data, which came from the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH 7), will be checked with the concerned local government units (LGUs).

          Giango said that, upon validation, the IPHO will be coming up with its own report.

          The town with the most cases of COVID-19 was Boljon with 21, followed by Minglanilla with 12.  Other towns with active cases were Compostela (11), Argao (11), Bantayan (11), Madridejos (11), Liloan (8), San Fernando (8), Santa Fe (8), Tuburan (8), Carmen (6), Consolacion (6), Daanbantayan (5), San Remigio (5), Balamban (4), Medellin (4), Catmon (3), Cordova (3), Dalaguete (3), Alegria (1), Pinamungajan (1), and Tudela (1).

          Among the six component cities, Danao has the most cases with 18 followed by Toledo City (12), Carcar City (8), Talisay City (7), Naga (7), and Bogo (3).

          As of November 8, a total of 6,358 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the province, with 5,750 recoveries and 396 deaths.
