2 drug suspects slain in Kidapawan shootout with cops

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Two suspected drug dealers were killed in an alleged shootout with the police here early Friday, November 6.

Kidapawan City Police Director Lt. Col. Ramel Hojilla identified the slain suspects as Tong Alba Sabandal, 42, and Tambak Abok, 29, both of Barangay Amas here.

Hojilla said teams from the the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 12 (Soccsksargen), Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Regional Intelligence Division, and the city police were about to arrest the two when the shootout transpired.

“The suspects fired at the policemen who were set to implement a drug search warrant when the shootout broke out around 1:30 a.m.,” he said.

Both men were taken to the nearby Cotabato Provincial Hospital, but were declared dead by attending physicians.

On Thursday, police also collared two suspected drug peddlers in a drug sting operation in the downtown area.

Arrested were Rene Salazar Barrientos, 42, of Barangay Panao; and Ramil Castillo Andal, 35, of Estañol Subdivision, Barangay Sudapin.

Police confiscated from them suspected shabu, marked money, and drug paraphernalia.
