Is lending money to a friend the best way to test friendship?
Musicians James Reid and Billy Crawford proved that no amount of money could put an end to their good relationship.
This after Billy pranked James by asking for financial help.
James did not have second thoughts in extending help to Billy.
During an episode of "Laugh Out Loud" on TV5, it was shown Billy calling James to borrow money.
"Listen, James, I hate to do this to you bro. Uhm in a major, major vine right now. I have a big problem. I'm really embarrassed. Sorry bro. Listen, I'm a bit stressed out and I'm in need of help. Since the whole pandemic thing started we're all trying to move on and do our thing but the problem is that for the longest time -- about six, seven months, I haven't made any money whatsoever. So obviously you know where this is going bro?," the introduction spill of Billy.
Billy said he was about to lose his house without his wife's knowledge.
"…like I'm given a few months to actually pay for it off so I need you bro. Are you good if I can like borrow let's say in advance of 5 million?"
Though James seemingly doesn't have any problem lending some cash, he explained that he couldn't do much as most of her money is in Australia. But he promised to help. "Yeah for sure, it's no problem. I'll get back to you. Let me just see like where I'm at right now."
Billy continued his prank, sharing how he has not told his wife Coleen Garcia everything because she just gave birth and they have a newborn kid.
"…it's just really messed up. But would you be able to do like really quickly within maybe less than a week like 2.5, 3 million at least or whatever you can. Even 500,000 or 150,000. It doesn't matter. I'm really desperate right now bro. Please don't tell anybody this but I sold my car. I sold my car like two days ago, I sold my bike because I really need funds. You mind like I got work tomorrow, do you mind if you can lend me a car?"
To which James immediately agreed.
"Okay, let me transfer how much I have in my bank right now. Most of my money's in Australia but, I'm planning on bringing a lot of it back anyway, because of the way things are going here. So I'll let you know. I'll get back to you within the day," James related.
The young actor-singer also noted how he's not pissed off or mad with Billy's sudden gesture as he completely "understands."
"No problem man," he assured.
In the end, James just asked the details on how or where he could send the money to Billy, which signaled that Billy should stop the prank.
"Wait, let me try to figure this out, well I can actually just text you the bank account so you can just either wire transfer it or you can actually just sit down and relax because this is a prank call my bro. Na LOL ka James Reid!," his declaration, to which the latter could only reply: "Yow, Billy… Oh my God! That's how much I love you, bro."
Billy then capped off the prank by pointing out how he could tell how much James "loves" him.
"…you even told us how much money you got your account right now. But don't worry mas marami ka pa ring pera kaysa sa akin. Wag ka mag-alala James… No James, you know, this is one of the reasons why you were my first target because I love you brother and I know you will never leave me hanging."
"Bro, I'm gonna fxxxg kill you when I see you! Oh my God!," James reacted as she promised he'll get back at Billy.
