This Christmas, it is best to support all things lokal

In our pre-pandemic world, this time of the year is when malls are decked with red sale flags signaling the start of shopping season, the preamble to the gleeful Yuletide celebrations.

Now, even with so many things uncertain, the Filipino spirit remains strong. And for many, Christmas is still a go. While we can find safe haven on e-commerce sites for our gift-giving this year, let's not forget to patronize the beautiful works of our local artisans.

Just like many of us, Filipino craftsmen have faced great challenges during this pandemic. One way to help them and add more value to your shopping is by purchasing their products.

That is the goal of Katutubo PH X Bench this season, to promote the works of local artisans. It is an avenue to support Filipino weavers, merchants, and designers, giving fashionable yet affordable Philippine-made clothes.

Katutubo PH X Bench opens its doors for another pop up this weekend, beginning today until Sunday, from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bench Tower, Bonifacio Global City, providing shoppers with the perfect opportunity to support local while doing their early Christmas shopping.

Here are some of the items to see on the weekend lokal market:

Rosalie top and face masks with handwoven textile from Cordillera by Monica Madrigal

Gavin Ruffy's barong-inspired ladies and men's top

Randy Ortiz's modern barong tunic

Abel PH's lovely abel blankets

At the pop up, safety is the top priority. All merchants and guests will be required to wear face masks and face shields, and social distancing will be strictly observed, with the Safe Pass app used for all merchants, staff, and guests to manage the number of visitors in the venue at all times, and to ensure efficient contact-tracing when needed.
