The local government of Quezon City will provide laptops to the students of Quezon City University (QCU) enrolled this school year.
Mayor Joy Belmonte on Friday bared that the city has already procured 8,000 laptops that will be distributed to QCU students who are attending online classes.
“We want our whole education system—from elementary to college—to be equipped as they transition to new learning modalities. These laptops will help our QCU students in attending their online classes while in the safety of their homes,” Belmonte said in a statement.
QCU has allotted more than P168 million for the procurement of the said gadgets. Aside from laptops, the university will also provide their students monthly Internet allowance and pocket WiFi.
The local government has advised QCU students, whose classes already started on October 5, to wait for the distribution of their laptops, which is set by the end of November.
