Quezon City LGU sends rice, generators as Bicol suffers from no electricity

The local government of Quezon City has extended assistance to the people of Bicol Region, which bore the brunt of Typhoon “Rolly” last week.

The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (QCDRRMC) sent more than 500 sacks of rice, 30 generator sets and other relief items to the local government units of Albay and Catanduanes provinces.

Myke Marasigan, QCDRRMC head, said it is the duty of the city to provide assistance to those who are in need.

“May responsibility tayo na tumulong. Nakita naman natin yung pinsala na dulot ni Rolly (We have a responsibility to help. We have seen the destruction brought by Typhoon Rolly),”  he said.

“May dala tayong relief goods at generator sets para makatulong sa problema nila sa kuryente (We are sending them relief goods and generator sets because power has not yet been restored in the area),” he added.
