PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan– After a week of no COVID-19 case recorded in Palawan, the town of Balabac in southernmost tip of Palawan added two new imported cases on Tuesday.

(MANILA BULLETIN)

Provincial Health Office (PHO) officer-in-charge Dr. Faye Labrador said that the patients are both female, a 40-year-old and a 57-year-old widow, who both arrived from Tawi-tawi on October 23. One of the patients is already isolated in Mangsee Island and the other one is in the Balabac mainland. They are both reactive to a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) and positive in a swab test.

“From Tawi-tawi sila, direct ang byahe nila,” Labrador said.

The local government of Balabac is planning to impose a lockdown in Mangsee island to contain the case and while conducting contact tracing.

Palawan has a total of six active COVID-19 cases including the new cases in Balabac, two from Culion, and two from Cuyo.

Puerto Princesa City and Coron town were recently declared COVID-19-free.
