Cordillera drug haul in October totals P20.8 M

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The Anti-Illegal Drugs units of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) conducted 29 anti-illegal drugs operations in October that resulted in the confiscation and seizure of illegal drugs worth P20,789,532.

Brig. Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan, PROCOR director, said during the period, police conducted said the contraband was composed of 75,850 fully grown marijuana plants, 71,200 marijuana seedlings, 20,000 grams of marijuana stalks, and 55.96 grams of methamphetamine or shabu.

Pagkalinawan said  28 suspects were arrested during the period and 22 cases were filed in court. A total of 11 drug personalities surrendered to authorities.

Arrested on Oct.28 were Benjie  Alaban, 32, tricycle driver, residing in Atok, Flora, Apayao, and his companion identified as Hominick Alawid Bacday, 30, a farmer, and a resident of Poblacion West, Flora, Apayao.

Confiscated from them were three plastic sachets containing shabu, a pouch, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Pagkalinawan said PROCOR will intensify its anti-illegal drugs campaign to minimize, if not totally stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Cordillera.
