Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Isidro Lapeña led the inauguration of the first assessment center for the said course or qualification established by a TESDA Technology Institution (TTI). There are about 181 TTIs nationwide.

The event also coincided with the unveiling of the RTC's marker, the inaugural assessment of 10 candidates who are also outbound Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and the training induction program for 340 TESDA scholars who will take different training courses from the six TESDA District Offices in Metro Manila.

In his message, Secretary Lapeña commended the TESDA-NCR for being one of the first TESDA regional offices to organize important training programs and initiatives during this pandemic.

"Once again, we have demonstrated that given a critical task in the service of the country using our mandate, we could be trusted to deliver - and deliver fast results," he said.

The TESDA-NCR RTC was established on July 1, 2020 through a TESDA Order issued by Lapeña.

The first training program it offered was Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC III with 25 trainees. It has registered Visual Graphic Design NC III and Java Programming NC III to be offered soon to the public.

The TESDA Chief also congratulated the TESDA scholars and encouraged all of them to study hard.

"I hope that all of you will complete your training. Your scholarship is the government's investment in human resources. At this time of pandemic, not everyone is given this access to government programs, so please put value to this training," said Lapeña.

According to TESDA-NCR Regional Director Florencio Sunico, Jr., the scholars will be taking courses such as Contact Tracing Level II, Barangay Health Services, Bread and Pastry Production, Contact Center Services, Photography, Web Development, Computer Servicing, and Mechatronics.
