'Baby Shark' is officially the most-watched video on YouTube

Hate it all you want but it is obvious the inexorably tedious "Baby Shark" is here to stay.

"Baby Shark Dance," the English-language version of the South Korea-produced song, earned over seven billion views on YouTube on Monday, overtaking Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's equally inane "Despacito" as the most-watched video on the platform.

The earworm, produced by Seoul-based Pinkfong was first uploaded to YouTube in June 2016.

It ultimately reached the number 32 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2019.

It’s just the latest in South Korean successes on YouTube.

South Korean rapper Psy’s "Gangnam Style" held the most-played record on YouTube for more than three years until it was dethroned by Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again."
