Typhoon Rolly's wrath may be over, but 398 families still occupy Bacoor City's evacuation centers on Monday (November 2) following a fire that gutted houses in two barangays.
The blaze started from a house in Barangay Alima at 10:16 p.m. on Sunday (November 1). Thirty minutes later, the fire spread over to Barangay Sineguelasan and was raised to the fourth alarm. Two casualties were reported.
Seventy-nine firetrucks responded to the scene, including 66 from various parts of Cavite and the National Capital Region. Fire out was declared at 1:28 a.m., November 2.
The city government records 1,641 individuals accommodated in evacuation centers in Bacoor Elementary School, Alima Elementary School, Jesus is Lord Church, and Alima Senior High School.
According to Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, each affected family will receive cash assistance amounting to P10,000. They're expected to stay in evacuation centers for up to a month.
Though the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bacoor already denied speculations that the blaze was caused by arson.
