Zamboanga del Sur starts allowing religious gatherings

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (PNA) – The provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has allowed religious gathering to resume starting Friday, October 30, but only up to 30 percent of the venues’ capacity.

The provincial IATF's decision came two weeks after the tightened quarantine measures were implemented following a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the province.

As of October 27, the Department of Health in Region 9 (DOH-9) said the province had 237 COVID-19 cases, 160 of which were active, with seven deaths and 70 recoveries.

Meanwhile, Provincial Information Officer Jeesrel Himang said cockpit activities would remain closed "until further notice from the provincial IATF".

The province, which is comprised of a component city and 26 towns, remains under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
