Duterte names 3 new police generals; more than 4,000 new cops join PNP


President Duterte has approved the promotion of three senior police officials to the rank of Brigadier General while 20 more junior officers were inducted into police service along with more than 4,000 other new rookie cops.

Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP),  officiated at the formal promotion rites and administered the oath of office to the promoted police officials and the traditional donning of ranks ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

They are Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Mendoza, deputy director for Administration of the Police Regional Office 8; Brig. Gen. Randolf Balonglong, deputy regional director for Administration of Police Regional Office 1; and, Brig. Gen. Antonino Ciruajales, executive officer of the Directorate for Human Resource Doctrine and Development.

“More police officials are also expected to be elevated to new posts and promoted as more senior officials are set to retire from the service,” said Cascolan.

The PNP Chief also led the induction of 20 Police Commissioned Officers and 4,194 Police Non-Commissioned Officers also at Camp Crame. The new police officials are composed of 12 Captains and eight Police Lieutenants who were commissioned as Technical Officers under the 2017 Unfilled Quota Lateral Entry Program.

Police Captains receive a basic monthly salary of P56,582.00, while Police Lieutenants have a basic salary of P49,528.00, with subsistence allowance, clothing allowance, quarters allowance, hazard pay, cost of living allowance, and additional compensation.

“These new police commissioned officers will be designated as technical officers in selected Police Regional Offices and National Operational Support Units.,” said Cascolan.

He also administered the oath of office simultaneously nationwide to 4,195 Patrolmen and Patrolwomen with a basic salary of P29,668.00, who were recruited under the 2020 Unfilled/Attrition Quota Recruitment Program. 

PNP spokesman Col. Ysmael Yu said the 4,195 recruits are composed of 3,471 male and 726 female who will fill-up vacancies in Regional, Provincial and City Police Offices, Municipal Police Stations; and National Operational Support Units.

“These recruits comprise only 67 percent of the 6,149 authorized quota for the 2020 Attrition Recruitment Program.  The 2,000 unfilled quota will be added to the recruitment quota in the next recruitment cycle,” said Yu.
