Around 270 evacuation centers in seven regions continue to serve some 27,500 persons who were affected by the onslaught of typhoon "Quinta" (international name "Molave") last weekend.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and concerned local government units have so far provided around ₱1.23 million worth of assistance to families affected by the typhoon.
DSWD's Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report as of Oct. 29 showed that the number of families affected by "Quinta" had reached 115,181 families or 501,289 persons in 2,255 barangays in Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Bicol region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
There were a total of 7,280 families or 27,550 persons who took temporary shelter in 279 evacuation centers in the affected regions.
About 1,942 families or 8,398 persons opted to stay with relatives or friends.
Meanwhile, DSWD reported 2,315 totally damaged houses and 27,213 partially damaged houses due to the massive destruction of "Quinta."
