‘Quinta’ leaves P58-M damage to roads, bridges --- DPWH


Damage to roads and bridges has reached P58 million due to the onslaught of Typhoon Quinta in the country, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Wednesday.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said the partial cost of damage covers damages in Region 2 with P30 million, Region 4-A with P20 million and Region 5 with P8 million.

Villar also announced that all road sections affected by “Quinta” in Bicol Region have been cleared and opened while clearing operations are still under way on the remaining 15 national road sections closed to traffic.

“Our deployed DPWH quick response teams are still clearing four road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), four in Region 2, two in Region 3, four in Region 4-A, and one in Region 10,” he added.

Road closures in CAR are reported along Kennon Road; a section of Tawang-Ambiong Road in Sitio Lower Riverside, Barangay Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet; Maragmin Section of Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road in Calanasan, Apayao; and Matteled Section of Tabuk-Banawe via Tanudan–Barlig Road in Dupligan, Tanudan, Kalinga and due to unsafe roadway, road cut, and sunken pavement.

The Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge in Cabagan, Sta. Maria, Isabela; intermittent sections of Cadcadir- Kabugao Road; Jct. Logac Lasam Gagabutan Road (JLLGR) Rizal Section in Sitio Masi, Barngay Talat, Rizal, Cagayan; and a portion of Manila North Road (MNR) in Barangay San Juan, Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan remain impassable.

Clearing operations are still under way on intermittent sections of Baliwag-Candaba-Sta. Ana Road in San Agustin, Candaba, Pampanga; and a portion of Candaba-San Miguel Road in Paralaya, Candaba, Pampanga.

In Region 4-A, four closed sections are: Batangas Tabangao-Lobo Road; Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Unclassified Road at Sitio Manalao, Agoncillo, Batangas; intermittent sections of Tagaytay Taal Lake Road in Barangay San Jose, Tagaytay City, Cavite; and a portion of the Indang-Alfonso via Luksuhin Road in Barangay Mangas II, Ternate, Cavite while the Siloo Bridge along Misamis Oriental-Bukidnon-Agusan Road in Barangay San Luis, Malitbog, Bukidnon also remains impassable.
