50 new COVID-19 cases, 2 fatalities recorded in Caraga region


BUTUAN CITY - The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Caraga region continued to rise with 50 new cases, as well as two deaths, on Tuesday, October 27.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin released by the Department of Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD), 17 new cases were recorded in Surigao del Norte, 15 in Butuan City, seven in Surigao del Sur, six in Agusan del Sur, two each in Cabadbaran City and Tandag City, and one in Bislig City.

Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region now has a total of 2,669 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 649 active cases and 115 deaths.

In a virtual press briefing on Tuesday, the DOH-CHD also reported that Caraga region has already recorded 1,905 recoveries.

According to the medical status of the new COVID-19 patients, the DOH-CHD said two have severe symptoms, 10 have mild symptoms, and 38 were asymptomatic.

Among the latest cases, 37 were local transmission cases, nine with no history of travel to an area with known local transmission or exposure to COVID-19, three with travel history from an area with local transmission, and one was a locally stranded individual (LSI). 

Among those infected, 23 were female. The youngest was seven years old, and the oldest 65 years old.
