Teams fight for precious points in final leg of Chooks 3x3

All 12 teams aim to gain some momentum before the Grand Finals as the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President’s Cup holds its fourth and final leg Tuesday afternoon at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.

Having a good showing in the leg which starts at 1 p.m. could help the teams boost their title chances in the P1-million Grand Finals of the TM-sponsored 3x3 professional circuit slated Friday inside the bubble.

Crucial points will be up for grabs in order to secure a better positioning in the Grand Finals which is a knockout affair. The top four teams after the four legs will earn a bye while the remaining eight squads figure in the first round.

Third leg champion Butuan City-Uling Roasters and Zamboanga City-Family’s Brand Sardines, the winners of the first two legs, currently lead the pack with 250 and 245 points followed by Nueva Ecija (190) and Pasig-Sta. Lucia (180).

Zamboanga City, led by national team pool mainstays Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, Santi Santillan and Troy Rike, is out for redemption after its myth of invincibility was shattered with a quarterfinal loss to Pasig in the quarterfinals.

Bacolod-Master Sardines is in the fifth with 150 points, Palayan City at sixth with 126 points while Big Boss Cement-Porac (115), Zamboanga Peninsula (113), Sarangani (110), Bicol (67), Petra Cement-Roxas (54) and Pagadian (44) round out the standings.

Butuan City, which defeated Pasig, 21-19, to win the third leg, are grouped alongside Bacolod and Sarangani in Pool A even as Zamboanga City will take on Palayan City and Pagadian in Pool B.
Pool C will have Pasig, Nueva Ecija and Bicol while Pool D has Zamboanga Peninsula, Porac and Roxas.

The leg champion gets 100 points and the P100,000 top purse, runner-up gets 80 points, third-placer 70, fourth placer 60, fifth place 50, sixth 45, seventh 40, eighth 35, ninth 20, 10th 18, 11th 16 and the 12th 14.
