Netflix official praises Filipino's support for entertainment

Raphael Phang, Manager of Content Acquisition on Netflix, has said that he is amazed at the support of Filipino fans for entertainment.

Phang's full statement:

"Over the last 20 years living and working across Southeast Asia I have yet to encounter a community of fans as passionate, vocal or visible as you! Your conversations on our social media pages light up the internet, spark global trends and serve as a reminder that great stories are universal -- they can come from anywhere and be loved everywhere.

"Your love for entertainment is unmistakable, from Hollywood to Korean content, animation, horror, romance, and of course, local Pinoy films. Together, we have felt Christine's anguish and pain in Maria, Mikhail's coming of age thrillers Birdshot and Dead Kids, the heartfelt chemistry between Alessandra and Paolo in Through Night and Day, and the charming and beautifully told story, The Girl Allergic To Wifi.

"Thanks to your support, we have been steadily growing our catalog of Filipino content with some of the most prominent film studios in the Philippines like Viva, ABS-CBN, TBA Studios, Regal Film, The Idea First Company, Globe Studios, Mavx Productions and others.

"Today we have renewed and expanded our content offering from ABS-CBN, and we can’t wait to show you more amazing stories from talented Filipino filmmakers through this partnership, including new films like ‘The Hows of Us’, ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’, and ‘Alone/Together’, which will be coming very soon to Netflix worldwide.

"We are also looking forward to the upcoming release of the first Filipino animated feature on Netflix, Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story, as well as other Netflix films such as Alter Me and Finding Agnes," Phang said.

Macie F. Imperial, Vice President of Integrated Program Acquisitions and International Distribution at ABS-CBN, said: “ABS-CBN’s partnership with Netflix gives our content a platform that reaches new audiences and hopefully paves the way to grow international appreciation of Filipino content. We look forward to providing them with more of our well-loved titles as well as future collaborations in the creation of new ones. We are thankful that they trust our content will resonate with viewers beyond our shores.”

"I’m excited to continue working with ABS-CBN, and all our partners in the Philippines, to share more Filipino stories with the world. Below are some of the ABS-CBN films that we will be releasing on Netflix soon," Imperial said.
