DPWH: 17 national roads affected by ‘Quinta’ remain impassable, clearing ops under way


Clearing operations are still under way in 17 national road sections affected by typhoon Quinta Tuesday morning, Oct. 27, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said that, although 16 road sections have been cleared, quick response teams with heavy equipment continue to conduct clearing operations and restoration works to open remaining closed sections soonest.

Deployed teams are currently working on clearing three impassable roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region, six in Region 2, three in Region 3, three in Region 4-A, and one road section each for Region 4-B, Region 5, and Region 10.

Kennon Road remains closed, as well as a portion of Tawang-Ambiong Road in Sitio Lower Riverside, Barangay Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet; and a section of Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road in Maragmin Section, Calanasan, Apayao in due to road cut. 

In Region 2, the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge, Cabagan, Sta. Maria in Isabela and Abusag Overflow Bridge along Baybayog-San Jose-Baggao-Abusag-Dalin-Sta. Margarita Road in Cagayan are still closed due to flooding.

Intermittent sections of Cadcadir-Kabugao Road; Jct. Logac Lasam Gagabutan Road (JLLGR) Rizal Section; sections of Manila North Road in Barangay San Juan, Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan and Barangay D. Leano Claveria Section; and San Pedro Overflow Bridge NRJ-Villa Sur- San Pedro - Cabua-an - Ysmael Disimungal Road in Baranagy Villa Sur, Maddela Quirino are also impassable due to mudflow, landslide, and flooding.

In Central Luzon, sections of the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road in Barangay Vilia, Maria Aurora, Aurora, and in Barangay Labi, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija are impassable due to landslides while Baliwag-Candaba-Sta. Ana Road in San Agustin, Candaba, Pampanga is still flooded.

Three road closures were reported in Region 4-A due to landslide, fallen trees, debris, and utility posts, specifically on Batangas Tabangao-Lobo Road in Barangay Pagkilatan and Barangay Simlong, Batangas City; intermittent sections of Tagaytay Taal Lake Road in San Jose, Tagaytay City, Cavite; and along Indang-Alfonso via Luksuhin Road in Barangay Mangas II, Ternate, Cavite.

Affected roads in Region 4-B, Region 5, and Region 10 due to flooding and landslide include the Calapan South Road in Mindoro Oriental and Putiao-Pilar-Donsol Road in Sorsogon, and the Siloo Bridge along Misamis Oriental-Bukidnon-Agusan Road in Barnagay San Luis, Malitbog, Bukidnon.
