Japan accepting applicants for assistant language teachers


The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) announced that Filipino overseas jobseekers can now apply as assistant language teachers in Japan.

POEA said that the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines announced that it is now accepting applications for assistant language teachers under its 2021 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme until Jan. 8.

The JET Programme is an exchange program launched by the Japanese government in 1987. It is participated by different countries, including the Philippines.

POEA said that interested applicants must be a Filipino citizen, possess excellent English ability both orally and in writing, and physically fit to work abroad. Also, the applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher or be able to obtain such qualifications by the designated arrival date.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) which is one of the signatories of the Memorandum of Cooperation in 2019 along with the POEA as well as the Bureau of Immigration and Embassy of Japan in the Philippines will select suitable candidates for the JET Programme.

POEA said it will process the participants’ travel exit clearances or Overseas Employment Certificates through its direct hire facility. All application materials and requirements for the program must be submitted through couriers to the Japan Information and Culture Center, Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, on Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
