A 70-year-old woman died after a coconut tree fell onto her nipa hut at the height of typhoon Quinta at Sitio Munting Ilog, Barangay Cagsiay 3, this town, on Monday noon.

The victim was identified as Gloria V. Rivas, 70, and a resident of the said place.  She was the first recorded fatality in Quezon province due to typhoon Quinta.

Around 2:00 p.m., Rivas was sleeping inside her hut when strong winds cut a coconut tree and it fell on her house that caused her death.

Villagers and local officials immediately responded to her but it was already too late to save her.
