Hard border lockdown implemented in Borongan City


TACLOBAN City - Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda has issued an executive order, placing the city of Borongan under a hard border lockdown, and implementing granular containment in several zones to conduct extensive contact tracing and disease containment from October 25 to November 2. 

"Only essential travels will be allowed in going to and from the city, including travel by government employees, medical and health emergencies, and other necessary travels to purchase food and medicine," the mayor said.

A maximum of 10 individuals, excluding authorized persons outside their residence (APORs) from each municipality within Eastern Samar province, shall be allowed to enter the city. 

On the other hand, the official assured that entry of food items, basic goods, and commodities shall be unhampered provided that only a maximum of five, including the driver, shall be allowed to enter the city.

All forms of mass gatherings will be prohibited, and drinking liquor in public will not be allowed, while restaurants will only accept takeout orders.

He added that all tourism sites and category 4 establishments, such as parlors, spas, salons, and barbershops, will be temporarily closed.

Meanwhile, Agda ordered at least 27 barangays with two or more contacts of positive or first generation contacts of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases referred to as critical barangays. "The city government shall provide food assistance to all affected families situated in all declared critical zones."
