LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – At least 1,789 individuals or 532 families have been evacuated as tropical storm “Quinta” nears the Bicol region.
Based on the latest record of the Office Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol, there were 521 families or 1,747 individuals in Guinobatan town in Albay province, and 11 families or 42 persons evacuated in Canaman town in Camarines Sur province, who have been evacuated as of 7 a.m. on Sunday.
These evacuees were brought to four different evacuation centers in the region.
Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro of Tabaco City issued an order early morning on Sunday that those residents living in flood, landslide, and mudflow-threatened areas should be evacuated at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The Iriga City government in Camarines Sur has also issued evacuation order on Saturday night. The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Emergency Operation Center is also on red alert for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), African Swine Flu (ASF) Oplan Kaluluwa are also activated.
Mayor Rolly Volante of Malilipot town in Albay province also issued an advisory for pre-emptive evacuation starting 6 a.m., Sunday.
Meanwhile, according to OCD-Bicol, there 662 passengers, 283 trucks, 13 light vehicles, and 29 sea craft were stranded in different ports in Bicol region.
