MGM Studios recently announced on Twitter that the third "Legally Blonde" movie is scheduled to hit the theaters on May 20, 2022.

The chick flick was originally scheduled to be released this February, but like several others, the film's production was derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reese Witherspoon, who played "Elle Woods" in 2001's "Legally Blonde" and its 2003 sequel, is once again returning for the film.

The screenplay for the threequel was written by Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor, who was also behind "Parks and Recreation" and "Brooklyn Nine Nine."

No director has been announced yet.

"Legally Blonde 3" will be produced by Witherspoon's company, Hello Sunshine.
