A series of webinars is being conducted by the Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) to provide information on the agency's Teaching and Learning Resource for E-Learning, such as the DOST Courseware in Science and Mathematics for Grades 1 to 8.
Free webinars were initiated to discuss its features, accessibility and vital role as alternative delivery mode to flexible teaching and learning in times of quarantine due to the pandemic.
The webinars are being conducted in cooperation with DOST Regional Offices and Provincial Science and Technology Offices (PSTOs). Sessions are held using a video conferencing application, allowing science and mathematics teachers to interact and discuss the software application. As of the end of September, DOST said that 10,844 teachers have already participated in the online training.
This October, webinars have been organized for teachers by the following DOST Offices: DOST CAR, DOST NCR, DOST Region III, DOST Region IV-A, DOST Region XI with (PSTO Davao Occidental and Davao del Sur).
On October 23, a similar online seminar will be hosted by DOST NCR for private schools in Metro Manila. On October 26 and October 28, the webinar will be hosted by DOST IV-A for private school teachers of Region IV-A; and on Oct. 27 and 30, this will be hosted by PSTO Negros Oriental for teachers in their province.
More webinars for teachers on the use of the DOST Courseware for teaching and learning science and math are scheduled in the last week of October until November. These webinars will be part of the 2020 National Science and Technology Week celebration.
Last June, computerized learning modules in math and science by the DOST were adopted by the Department of Education (DepEd) through a project undertaken by the DOST-SEI.
The computerized learning modules in math are from grades 1 to 8 while learning modules for science are from grades 7 and 8.
