Parlade denies red-tagging Liza Soberano

NTF-ELCAC Spokesperson Lt. General Antonio Parlade Jr. has denied allegations he red-tagged actress Liza Soberano in a recent statement.

In an interview with ANC, Friday, Parlade maintained, "I did not red-tag Liza Soberano. Those people saying that I red-tagged (her) got their comments somewhere... maybe they did not even read my entire statement."

As to netizens asking him to apologize to Soberano following his statement, he said, "Why should I apologize? The Family (of Soberano) thanked me, Atty. Lim (the actress' lawyer) called me up to say that they are sending (a) thank you letter..."

The Lieutenant General went on to urge critics to read his entire statement as published on Facebook and not those from certain media outlets.

He reiterated, "I am not threatening this woman because I have a daughter.. I have sisters... I am supporting them, I am supporting their advocacy."

The whole issue started with Soberano speaking at an event organized by the youth arm of Gabriela.

A netizen went on to red-tag Soberano, earning the ire of her fans.

Days later, Parlade issued a warning to Soberano urging her to disengage with the group maintaining she might just end up dead not unlike Josephine Anne Lapira, a former member of Gabriela youth who was killed in an encounter with the military in 2017.
