Lee Min Ho to star in Apple drama ‘Pachinko’


Korean actor Lee Min Ho has been cast to star in the international drama series “Pachinko” on Apple TV+ based on the historical novel of the same name by Korean-American author Min Jin Lee.

The eight-episode drama, about four generations of a Korean immigrant family, will be in Korean, English and Japanese, according to Deadline.

In addition to Lee Min Ho, the drama will also star Jin Ha, Anna Sawai, Minha Kim, Soji Arai and Kaho Minami. The production for the drama will start on Oct. 26.

Lee Min Ho will play the role of Hansu, a merchant who built up wealth and power through his ties with Yakuza, according to MYM Entertainment. The roles of other cast members are: Jin Ha as Solomon, Anna Sawai as Naomi, Minha Kim as teenage Sunja, Soji Arai as Mosazu and Kaho Minami as Etsuko.

“Pachinko” is written by Soo Hugh, who is also an executive producer while Kogonada and Justin Chon will be the directors.

This is Lee Min Ho’s next project after starring in the Korean drama “The King: Eternal Monarch,” which ran from April to June this year on SBS and Netflix.

Recently, Lee Min Ho reached a milestone when his Facebook and Instagram followers exceeded 20 million each, becoming the first Korean celebrity to achieve the feat.

His followers on Chinese social media platform Weibo has reached 28.6 million while he has 3 million followers on Twitter.
