Giving you the confidence to lead

The new Toyota Fortuner

With all the challenges that 2020 has thrown our way, it’s easy to be daunted by the trials that lay ahead. Yet as the lockdown has proven, it’s easy to forge ahead when you have reliable support, be it in family or friends or a vehicle that can take you there.

Family and friends are always around to lend words of encouragement, but when it comes to vehicles, there’s only one that many Filipinos have come to depend on: the Toyota Fortuner. Since the Fortuner’s first entry into the local market in 2005, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has already sold over 220,000 units of this proven and reliable SUV. 2017’s best-selling vehicle in the country and the leader in its segment (gaining 30% market share in August in the mid-sized SUV segment), the Fortuner continues to lead.

For 2020 and beyond, Toyota continues to give buyers a reason to trust the Fortuner. It’s been updated with improvements and features to make it a formidable and reliable SUV, whether for the city or off-road. Not only that, the improvements are designed to return the feeling of confidence, prestige, and safety when behind the wheel.

Bolder design

The new Fortuner was designed to stand out, with its new variant — the LTD — bearing the boldest new look and the most features of all. The new Fortuner LTD comes with a two-tone color, contrasting its striking body color with a standout black roof and cabin. It’s paired with a unique front and rear bumper design, and machine-cut 18-inch alloy wheels exclusive to the LTD. On either side of the new bumper and grille are new split-type LED headlamps and LED front foglamps and redesigned LED rear combination lamps that feature sequential turn signals.

Q and V variants get LED foglamps and redesigned LED rear combination lamps, as well as bi-beam LED headlamps with an LED line guide that serve as daytime running lights. G variants also now come with bi-beam LED headlamps with LED DRL.

Luxury where it matters

Getting in and moving is much easier thanks to improvements to the interior. The LTD, Q, and V grades come with smart entry and push start system. A welcoming interior awaits in the LTD with leather with maroon accents with a front seat ventilation system. The interior is accented with galaxy black trim and interior illumination. The Q variant gets a black leather interior complemented by a dark wood trim. The right driving position is easily attained with eight-way power adjustable front seats for the driver and front passenger (LTD and Q).

Motivating your journey is a center console infotainment system with an eight-inch display audio compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (LTD, Q, and V grades). The LTD is the most pampering of all with a nine-speaker JBL sound system. Staying in touch with family is easy with a wireless charger and rear USB chargers fitted on the LTD, Q, and V grades. There's also automatic climate controls for front and rear zones (LTD, Q, and V).

The power to lead

Buyers of the Fortuner will never be left wanting with Toyota’s potent 1GD-FTV (2.8-liter diesel) engine powering the new Fortuner LTD and Q variants. It produces an astounding 201 HP (204 Ps) max output and 500 Nm max torque to take on the most challenging journeys.

The V and G variants are fitted with the 2GD-FTV (2.4-liter diesel) engine which produces 147 HP (150Ps) max output and 400 Nm max torque. Designed to produce torque more efficiently, it’s been tuned to gain a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency versus the previous generation Fortuner.

The engine’s torque can be further adjusted to your driving style with Eco and Sport driving modes for LTD and Q variants, and Eco and Power for V and G variants.

Safety you can rely on

Easily the most extensive area of improvement is the Fortuner’s safety. Being Toyota’s utmost priority, the new Fortuner LTD and Q come with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). TSS is a safety suite that includes smart safety systems like the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Using an array of cameras, sensors, and powerful computing, it constantly monitors the road conditions and warns the driver of potential dangers in front, behind, or on either side of the car.

There’s also a Panoramic View Monitor that comes with the LTD, Q, and V variants or reverse camera for the G variants.

Toyota believes safety is a right, not a luxury. That’s why all variants come with SRS airbags (seven for the LTD variants), three-point ELR seatbelts, Anti-Lock Brake System with Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control with Traction Control, and Hill-Start Assist Control. All variants also come with a total of six clearance and back sonars

Reassuring ownership

“The Fortuner has an SUV body perfect for the Philippines’ flood-prone streets, an array of variants including a fuel-efficient diesel engine, a macho look that satisfies desires, and most of all, an affordable price – making it an achievable dream.” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto. “The new Fortuner is smarter, stronger and safer than ever with its refreshed line-up led by the top-of-the-line premium LTD grade.”

Adding even more value to the Fortuner and confidence to its buyer, service and maintenance of the Fortuner’s first 20,000 kilometers is now free. This ensures buyers can confidently rely on their vehicle to get them through any challenges even within the first few months of ownership.

This year may continue to throw ordeals we least expect. Yet few other vehicles can return provide the confidence and support that people need in these times to forge ahead and lead.

Starting at PhP 1.63M for the G MT variant, the new Fortuner comes in a wide number of variants with automatic or manual transmissions, 4x2 or 4x4, and a number of financing options.

The new Fortuner is available in all of TMP’s 70 dealerships across the country or also available for safely-distanced viewing in Toyota’s virtual showroom.
