‘Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos’ adjudged best short at Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival


The 2020 Cinemalaya Special Jury Prize winner “Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos” won as Best Documentary short at the 29th Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

The Cinemalaya made the announcement in a Facebook post, Tuesday.

“Another win for Joanna Vasquez Arong's Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos! The Cinemalaya 2020 Special Jury Prize winner won best documentary short at the 2020 Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival! Congratulations Direk Joanna and the team!,” the post read.

The festival was held in Arkansas, United States ran from Oct. 9 to 17.

“Ang Pagpakalma sa Unos (To Calm the Pig Inside),” which was also written by Arong, is a contemplation on the effects of a typhoon on a port city as tied to a girl's memory of her grandmother and mother.

The film is also set to compete at the 2020 International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam next month.
