The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday reported 12 new confirmed COVID1-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) among overseas Filipinos in Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East.

No new fatality and new recovery were recorded today, the DFA added in its daily report.

To date, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 involving overseas Filipinos since the outbreak was first reported in February this year is 11,198. Of that total,  7,248 have recovered and 3,135 are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals and health facilities abroad.

In the span of almost eight months under the pandemic, some 815 overseas Filipinos died due to coronavirus infections.

Meanwhile, the coordination between the DFA Consular Office in Tagum and the Davao Oriental Local Government Units led to the successful transport of seven Filipino fishermen from General Santos Seaport to their respective home cities and municipalities right after repatriation on October 17, 2020.

The seven fishermen were part of the 40 stranded and distressed individuals repatriated from Bitung and Manado, Indonesia on October 16, 2020 onboard the BRP Tubattaha of the Philippine Coast Guard.
