P25-million COVID-19 quarantine facility completed in Agusan del Norte

NASIPIT, Agusan del Norte – Adhering to the directive of Isolation Czar Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar to fast-track the completion of all coronavirus disease (COVID-19) quarantine facilities in the country, a P25-million quarantine facility was completed at the international shipping port town of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte province.

Located on a 3,519-square meter lot, two separate buildings for male and female were built that have a total of 50 beds. The facility was completed by the Agusan del Norte District Engineering Office (ADN-DEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The two buildings have four toilets each for the two buildings, with provisions for persons with disability. There are also 16 bathrooms, medical personnel’s quarter  in each building with toilet and bath room, and food preparation and kitchen area.

The isolation facility followed the standard design prepared by the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Health Facilities to prevent further transmission of the virus.

“The construction of this facility will accommodate the increasing number of individuals  affected by the continuous proliferation of COVID-19 pandemic, and this will augment the health care capacity of the fast-rising town of Nasipit and its neighboring areas,” also said DPWH 13 Regional Director Pol M. Delos Santos.

Representing Secretary Villar at the inauguration and turn over ceremony of the quarantine facility on Monday, October 19, was DPWH Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, head of the Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Health Facilities.

The event was attended by Agusan del Norte Gov. Dale Corvera, Agusan del Norte 2nd District Rep. Ma. Angelica Rosedell Amante-Matba, Nasipit town Mayor Enrico Convera, Director Delos Santos, Department of Health (DOH) Region 13 Director Jose R.
