Grab expands to Dumaguete to provide more livelihood opportunities

Anchored on its Grab for Good commitment of using technology to contribute to the Philippines’ longer-term socio-economic development, Grab Philippines has teamed up with the City of Dumaguete to provide meaningful livelihood opportunities to thousands of the city’s residents, small businesses and microentrepreneurs.

Through this launch, Dumaguetenos may now benefit from the safe, convenient, and valuable services that GrabFood and GrabExpress has to offer, while co-creating a positive social impact, and contributing to Dumaguete’s economic recovery.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, on-demand delivery services have become the go-to option for businesses to keep themselves afloat. As such, the launch of GrabFood and GrabExpress in Dumaguete aims to help the city’s MSMEs to better reach and serve their customers through the Grab platform.

Through GrabFood, Dumaguetenos can now support their staple local cuisines through the wide array of food choices made available on the Grab app. As a start, residents can now enjoy their favorite dishes from flavor heroes like Gabby’s Bistro, Qyosko, and Tiffles Food Hub right at the comfort and safety of their homes.

To help boost Dumaguete’s food tourism industry, Grab will continue to work with more restaurants and establishments to help showcase the city’s local flavors to locals and visitors alike with the help of the Grab app.

GrabExpress will also play a significant role in helping small businesses and micro-entrepreneurs across Dumaguete to better reach and serve their customers, by providing safe, convenient, and reliable means of ferrying products and items on-demand.

As Grab continues to provide meaningful and essential services to the communities in Dumaguete, it will leverage its technology and innovation to provide its delivery partners the necessary tools, training, and livelihood opportunities for them to grow and succeed.

“Our ability to expand at this time speaks volumes about our commitment to reach more Filipinos despite the new realities we face. We are proud to partner with the City of Dumaguete in a time when diverse economic opportunities are most needed by our kababayans,” said Jay Lim, Head of Expansions for Grab.

“With this partnership, we hope to continue using our technology and platform to empower and motivate our communities in co-creating a positive social impact, and hopefully contribute to a safe economic recovery for Dumaguete. We hope that our kababayans in Dumaguete will continue to support one another and Grab is humbled to be part of this strong and resilient community,” added Lim.
