3 fishermen survive boat mishap at the height of ‘Pepito’


JOMALIG, Quezon – Three fishermen were able to survive the wrath of Tropical Storm Pepito as strong waves heavily damaged their boat in Barangay Talisoy of this town on Tuesday, October 20.

The fishermen were identified as Frankie Borgeta, 38, boat captain; Arnel Iglesia, 22; and Jay R Bianito, 27, all residents of Barangay Mainit in Perez, Quezon.

Reports said a certain Jennifer Bernardo reported to the Jomalig Police Station at around 6 p.m., Tuesday, that the victims were in distress onboard their boat, which was spotted near a beach resort in Sitio Salibungot.

As it turned out, the victims were able to steer their badly damaged boat to an area in Moros River where they were able to seek refuge.

According to the victims, they could hardly control the boat as strong waves and winds tossed it about.

They were still able to salvage their boat, which was left in total wreck.
