The CHR strongly condemns the unjust murder and suspected rape of a six-year-old girl in Bacolod City)," said Spokesperson Atty.

The Commission extends its full condolences to the victim's family, and expects our office to conduct an investigation into this violation)," she added.

According to police reports, the six-year-old girl's body was found by her mother in a vacant lot in Barangay Estefania around 10 p.m. of October 15.

The girl was reported missing in the evening after she failed to return home from a birthday party near her house. The victim's uncle said that the suspect, a 24-year-old construction worker, probably followed his niece on her way home and committed the crime because he was drunk.

When the suspect was brought to the police station, he confessed to sexually molesting and strangulating the victim.
