'Crash Landing on You’ star Son Ye-jin buys building in upscale Gangnam area


Multiple best actress winner and Korean actress Son Ye-jin has bought herself a building in the affluent Gangnam District in Seoul, South Korea.

According to Korean media, the 38-year-old actress, who starred in the hit K-drama “Crash Landing on You,” purchased a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam for 16 billion won (about $14 million or about P596 million).

Son Ye-jin signed the purchase contract on July 28 and completed the payment on Sept. 22. She bought the building using 4 billion won (about $3.48 million) in cash and 12 billion won ($10.56 million) in loans.

The building, built in 1998, is six-story high, stands on a land area measuring 428.7 sq. m and has a total floor area of 1,567 sq. m. Currently there are a cosmetics store and plastic surgery clinics in the building.

Sinsa-dong is a commercial area and is known for the Garosu-gil Road, a shopping area with many restaurants and cafes.

This is not the first time that Son Ye-jin invested in real property. She bought a building in Mapo District in Seoul for 9.35 billion won ($8.18 million) in 2015 and sold it for 13.5 billion won ($11.81 million) in February 2018, netting her a profit of $3.63 million.

“Crash Landing on You” brought added fame to Son Ye-jin especially that she was paired with actor Hyun Bin. Its final episode garnered a rating of 21.68 percent to become the third highest rated drama in Korean cable TV history.
