Pasig collects 329 bags of blood in bloodletting drive

Pasig City has collected 329 bags of blood since it launched a bloodletting drive in September to replenish the supply in blood banks.

Mayor Vico Sotto kicked off the city’s bloodletting drive by donating his own.

Persons interested to donate blood can proceed to Plaza Bonifacio Hall located near the Pasig Museum on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon.

Donors will be subjected to a free enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) antibody testing.

Because of the pandemic, Sotto lamented that few people have volunteered to donate blood affecting the supply in blood banks.

“Napaka sakit mawalan ng mahal sa buhay dahil sa kakulangan ng dugo sa blood bank (It is very painful to lose a loved one due to lack of blood in the blood bank),” he said on Facebook.

The mayor said the city government is regularly conducting bloodletting activities but a lot of people are afraid to donate their blood.

“Because of this, we are stepping up our blood-letting drives,” he said.
