BOC-NAIA agents intercept 28 parcels with P1.5-M firearms, parts, accessories


Twenty-eight parcels containing various firearms, parts and accessories with an estimated value of P1.5 million was intercepted by the Bureau of Customs -Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC- NAIA) at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) today, Oct. 17.

The seized items did not have the required Import Permit from the Firearms and Explosive Office of the Philippine National Police (FEO-PNP)

The firearms and other paraphernalia were seized for violation of Section 117 and Section 1113 of Republic Act No. 10863 (CMTA) in relation to R.A. No. 10591, known as the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”

The parcels with the firearms, parts and ammunition were intercepted by the agents of the BOC-NAIA, Customs Intelligence & Investigation Service (CIIS-NAIA), and the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS-NAIA).

Those shall be turned over to the Enforcement and Security Service-Firearms and Explosive Office (ESS-FEO) for safekeeping pending seizure and forfeiture proceedings.

NAIA Customs District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan assured the public that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, BOC-NAIA personnel will continue to focus on their duties to protect the country’s premier airport against fraudulent and illegal attempts to import high risk commodities like firearms, dangerous drugs and other contraband merchandize.
