55 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Caraga region


BUTUAN CITY - The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region continued to rise with 55 new cases recorded, with two deaths added.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin released by the Department of Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD), 25 new cases were recorded in Agusan del Sur, 18 in Butuan City, and four each in Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao City.

Caraga region now has a total of 2,123 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 684 active cases.

Two deaths were also reported. Caraga region has recorded a total of 88 deaths.

In a virtual press briefing on Thursday, Caraga region has also recorded 1,351 recoveries.

According to the medical status of patients, the DOH-CHD said two had severe symptoms, nine had mild symptoms, and 44 were asymptomatic.

Among the latest cases, 29 were local transmission cases, 20 with travel history from an area with local transmission, and five with no history of travel to an area with known  local transmission or exposure to COVID-19.  

Among those infected, 25 were female, 30 male, with the youngest at 19-years old and the oldest, at 78-years-old.
