Pasig City received additional 130 new contact tracers from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), to further intensify the city’s contact tracing efforts.
“Thank you to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for 130 new contact tracers for Pasig City!,” said Mayor Vico Sotto on Facebook.
“As Secretary Eduardo Año said, this ‘will greatly amplify our COVID-19 efforts and further decrease our daily cases,’” he added.
In his report to the President last week, Año said some of the 34,057 contact tracers hired by the DILG were already deployed in various areas in the country.
The DILG has started the recruitment, hiring, and training of at least 50,000 contact tracers nationwide last month to ramp-up the country’s contact tracing efforts amid the continuing threat of the pandemic.
The Pasig City government unveiled last week the new workstation of the city’s contact tracers and its newly-developed QR code-based contact tracing solution known as Pasig Pass.
“This is a quick reference or QR code-based in order to make the city's contact tracing system contactless and centralized,” the local government said.
“In addition, it also ensures that the data privacy of the citizens is protected because Pasig Pass QR codes cannot be read by ordinary QR code scanners,” it added.
The Pasig Pass is one of the components of Pasig Health Monitor, the city's health monitoring system developed to speed up and improve the provision of medical services to city residents.
