De los Reyes installed as Missionary Oblates of Mary provincial superior


Fr. Gerry Gamaliel de los Reyes, OMI, has been officially installed as the 14th Provincial Superior of the Philippine Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

In a Facebook post, OMI Philippines said the Mass of the installation of the new Provincial and Council was held at the OMI Postulancy chapel in Tamontaka, Maguindanao.

According to OMI, Fr. Emmanuel Sison, OMI, as the outgoing administrator of the OMI Philippine Province, read the Decree of Appointment from the Superior General officially appointing De los Reyes as the 14th Provincial Superior and Fathers  Ross Kapunan, Rogelio Tabuada, Eduardo Vasquez, and John Jeneval Palomar as his councilors.

"The Provincial Secretary was at hand to officially sign as witness the documents of appointment. Fr Gerry afterwards knelt in front of the altar to make his Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity before assuming the office as provincial superior," the OMI said.

OMI Philippines announced the appointment of De los Reyes last month. He replaced Bishop Charlie Inzon who was appointed by Pope Francis as Vicar Apostolic of the Vicariate of Jolo in April.

OMI said De los Reyes was born in Cotabato City on Aug. 14. 1964. He entered the Juniorate Seminary in Cotabato City in 1983, the Tamontaka Novitiate in Datu Odin Sinsuat in 1985, and Our Lady of Assumption Scholasticate on May 21, 1986.

He professed his perpetual vows on Sept. 14, 1989 at the Our Lady of Grace Parish in Caloocan City and was ordained priest on April 1993.
