24 new COVID cases among Filipino abroad recorded


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Thursday 24 new confirmed cases, three new recoveries, and no new fatality due to COVID-19  among Filipinos abroad.

In a report, the DFA said the new confirmed cases and new recoveries were recorded in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, bringing the total number of confirmed cases and recoveries across geographic regions to 11,141 and 7,175, respectively.

The total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos has increased to 81 following a confirmed case reported in one country in Africa.

As of Oct. 15, the Middle East and Africa remain as the combined regions with the most number of overseas Filipinos afflicted with the coronavirus disease with a total of 7,364 cases, followed by the Asia and the Pacific, 1,755; Europe, 1,211, and the Americas, 811. 

The DFA assured that it will continue to keep track of the status of Filipino nationals abroad and stands ready to assist and facilitate repatriations, whenever possible.
