Just like any father, 66-year-old veteran actor-comedian and TV host Vic Sotto couldn’t help but get hurt whenever netizens hurl harsh words towards his two-year-old daughter Tali with 31-year-old wife, actress Pauleen Luna.
Despite the bashing, the “Eat Bulaga!” pioneer choose to look at the brighter side.
“Ang importante naman, higit na nakararami ‘yung napapasaya ni Tali. Napapa-smile niya sa araw-araw sa tuwing magpo-post ang kanyang nanay,” he said in an interview with Jessica Soho. “Tapos ‘yung mga ilan na hindi natutuwa, hindi ko na lang pinapansin ‘yon. Pinagpapasa-Diyos ko na lang ‘yon.”
According to him, he “tries” to “understand” that these people have their own reason for doing what they do.
“Malay natin baka may pinagdadaanan o may problema lang sa buhay, mainit ang ulo niya at the time. Iniintindi ko na lang ‘yon,” he related. “Mas importante, mas nakararami ‘yung good comments.”
He also accepted that it’s one of the cons of being celebrities, as their lives are an open book and that negativity is one of the many risks given to social media.
“One of the risks, disadvantage lalo na sa social media ngayon, mayroon din talaga tayong mga kababayan ngayon na iresponsable sa paggamit ng social media. Hindi naman natin mako-correct ang mga ugali nila. Bahala na sila. Kanya-kanya namang opinyon ‘yan. Nasa demokrasya tayo pero let’s be responsible sa ating mga post, sa ating mga comment,” he said.
Note that recently, Pauleen threatened to sue an online user who shaded their first-born.
She told the basher that cyberbullying is a crime that could be tried in court.
The star then demanded a public apology. Thankfully, the netizen obliged.
Pauleen then gave a piece of advice to the basher to always think before he clicks.
“And always remember wag mandadamay ng inosenteng bata.”
