Baguio City posts 17th COVID-19 fatality, records 48 new cases

BAGUIO CITY – This city posted its 17th fatality due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and recorded 48 new cases on Monday, October 12.

The 17th fatality was a 71-year old male, who had pre-existing conditions of hypertension and diabetes. He had cough, fever and difficulty of breathing on October 2, sought consultation on October 7, was swabbed at Parkway Medical and Diagnostic Center, and subsequently admitted at the Baguio General Hospital.

Of the 48 new cases, 42 were contacts of patients, four were symptomatic and two were tested as requirement for work and surgery.

As of 5 p.m., October 12, the City Health Services Office (CHSO) has reported a total of 1,419 confirmed cases in the city.

Of this number, 504 patients continue to receive medical intervention, 898 have recovered, and, 17 persons, most of whom have comorbidities, have perished.
