Valencia City closes down maternity clinic for decontamination


DAVAO CITY - The City Government of Valencia in Bukidnon province ordered on Wednesday the temporary closure of the City Health Office Maternity Care and TB DOTS Center for extensive decontamination.

Based on Executive Order No. 81 issued by Mayor Azucena Huervas on Wednesday, the 72-hour closure of the maternity clinic has been recommended by the Emergency Operations and Command Center (EOCC) until 7:00 pm on October 9.

On October 5, the Department of Health announced new COVID-19 positive cases in Valencia City including a case identified as No. 97 who was admitted to the maternity clinic in New Terminal, Hagkol, Barangay Poblacion.

The local government said the disinfection and decontamination is needed to "ensure that it is safe for the workers, staff, and the general public."

Valencia City has recorded 11 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The city has recorded a total of 133 COVID-19 cases, with 71 active cases, 61 recoveries, and one fatality.
