After posting P30, 000 bail for a cyberlibel complaint, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) senior manager for corporate communication Rey Baleña was released on Wednesday afternoon (October 7), Pasig City Police chief Col. Moises Villaceran said.

“May release order na si Rey Baleña signed by Executive Judge Danilo Cruz (Rey Baleña now has a release order signed by Executive Judge Danilo Cruz),” he said in a text message.

Baleña was arrested yesterday (October 6) at the City State Center on Shaw Boulevard and was detained at the Pasig City Police Station.

In the release order dated October 7, Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 152 Executive Judge Danilo Cruz has directed Pasig City Police Station to release Baleña.

Eastern Police District (EPD) earlier said that Baleña has a standing warrant for cyberlibel filed in Cebu City.

EPD also said that the warrant or arrest was issued by Hon. Ramon Daomilas Jr., the presiding judge of RTC 7th Judicial Region Branch XI in Cebu.

His responsibilities as PhilHealth’s spokesman primarily involve him speaking on behalf of the agency, which is currently facing controversy over corruption allegations.
