The Paranaque City government gave out 1,500 laptops to teachers and 16,000 tablets to Kindergarten and Grade I students in public schools when classes started Monday, October 5.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the gadgets were turned over at the Sto. Nino Elementary School.
Olivarez said the city government spent P300-million for the gadgets.
All 44 public schools are connected by Cablelink, the fiber optic provider to Paranaque City Hall.
Mar Jimenez, head of the public information office (PIO), said the rest of the public school students will be using modules. Their P500 monthly allowance will continue.
Jimenez said modules were also distributed during the formal turn-over of tablets.
The city government utilized the Special Education Fund (SEF) to buy gadgets to help public school students and teachers.
