BIÑAN CITY, Laguna – The city government launched on Monday (October 5) a free WiFi system for all of its 24 barangays.
The project aims to enable students to access online learning materials now that face-to-face classes are restricted due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“With this project, naniniwala ako kung ano ang klase ng edukasyon na kaya kong ibigay sa aking mga anak, that is also the kind of education na gusto nating ibigay sa mga public school students (With this project, I believe that the kind of education I can give my children, that is also the kind of education that I would like to give our public school students),” Mayor Arman Dimaguila said during his speech during the project launch at Biñan National High School in Barangay Langkiwa.
Areas within a 200-meter radius of each router can get access to free Internet connection. Students will need to register their gadget through a portal to receive a password to access the Internet.
Students in Barangays Casile, Dela Paz, Langkiwa, and Malaban are already enjoying the free WiFi system. The local government unit is setting up the system in other barangays within the city.
