CEBU CITY– A retired policeman was killed in an alleged shootout with anti-narcotics agents here.
Alexander Dalion, 58, allegedly drew a gun when the police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Visayas (PDEA 7) arrived at his home in Barangay Mambaling here to serve a search warrant last Friday afternoon.
Packs of suspected illegal drugs worth P1.3 million were seized from the house of Dalion.
PDEA 7 Regional Director Levi Ortiz described the former policeman as a big-time drug player, who had links with the slain suspected drug lord Jaguar Diaz.
The suspect was allegedly capable of selling one to three kilos of shabu per day in Metro Cebu.
“He was a good police investigator when he was still in the service. His career was destroyed when he started using illegal drugs,” said Ortiz.
To sustain his vice, the former policeman started selling illegal drugs.
Dalion had a rank of senior police officer 4 when he retired from the police service.
According to Ortiz, Dalion continued selling illegal drugs after he retired.
The former policeman was a known toughie in the barangay.
“He was allegedly threatening some neighbors. Some people in the area were even happy after the operation because he was really troublesome,” said Ortiz.
It was learned that the former policeman had killed his brother but their relatives decided not to press charges.
Ortiz said the PDEA 7 has already identified Dalion’s supplier of illegal drugs.
“We are conducting follow-up investigations to track down these people who had links with the suspect,” said Ortiz.
