Jasmine Curtis-Smith revealed her business suffered a lot amid the ongoing health crisis brought about by COVID-19. Apparently, the actress has started a small music management firm, which the pandemic ultimately rendered fruitless.
The 26-year-old went on to share in a recent interview how she dealt with the setback practicing patience and self-forgiveness.
"I'm very impatient kasi and unforgiving lalo na sa sarili ko but with all the time that we have now, ngayon ko rin naintindihan how important it is to give yourself the chance to breathe, to take in what is in front of you and take it day by day," she said.
"Dahil andami na ngang balita na-a-absorb natin na hindi naman directly nasa buhay natin pero apektado pa rin tayo. So 'yung pagbibigay mo sa sarili ng panahon, huminga at konting pasensiya at patawad, that's my self discovery," she added.
Jasmine has since accepted reality, deciding to put a halt on their operations.
"Pause muna and see," she said. "Maybe this is not the right time talaga."
It was hard for her emotionally but she is coping.
"Kailangan e. Kailangan mas detached 'yung emotions mo a little bit kasi may perang involved and 'yung kadalasan mga ka-partners mo rin e, friends mo rin so you wanna make sure na hindi madala sa ganu'ng klaseng problems ang relationship niyo."
"So, it is really just taking it one day at a time and being logical about it. Kasi mahirap kapag usaping pera. Ayaw naman natin na emosyon ang magdala sa ating mga desisyon. So yun lang it's hard but you know it is what it is so, just deal with it talaga."
To maintain a semblance of sanity amid the difficulty, Jasmine is also steering herself away from social media.
She reasoned, "Kasi kadalasan all of our work is online na rin. If we are not taping, we can give ourselves that break from all the different opinions on social media."
She believes it is necessary in finding your true self.
"It makes you more calm, it makes you more appreciative of what is around you. Kung nature ba 'yan, 'yung ibon na naririnig mo sa labas ng bahay mo... These are small things but if you can take the minute or the second to appreciate it you know it could give you peace that could last the whole day."
Jasmine is currently seen in GMA's drama anthology "I Can See You: Love On The Balcony" on the Telebabad block.
It tells the story of a wedding videographer, Gio (Alden Richards), who crosses paths with a frontline nurse, Lea (Jasmine).
Uninspired and creatively drained, Gio is encouraged by his business partner and friend Val (Pancho) to search for a potential fling during quarantine.
Romance eventually blossoms between Gio and Lea.
