BTS, BLACKPINK bag nominations at 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards


K-pop heavyweights BTS and BLACKPINK have been nominated for the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards, which will be broadcast on Nov. 15 (Nov. 16 in the Philippines) from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

There are 44 categories this year in movies, television, music and pop culture, and Jennifer Lopez will receive the "People's Icon of 2020" award at the ceremony.

BTS and BLACKPINK are both nominated for The Group of 2020 along with 5 Seconds of Summer, Chloe X Halle, CNCO, Dan + Shay, Jonas Brothers and twenty one pilots.

The two groups are also vying for The Music Video of 2020. BTS’ “Dynamite” and BLACKPINK’s “Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez) are nominated along with “Blinding Lights “ by The Weeknd, “Holy” by Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper, “Life Is Good” by Future feat. Drake, “Rain On Me” by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, “UN DIA (ONE DAY)” by J. Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny feat. Tainy, and “WAP” by Cardi B feat. Megan Thee Stallion.

“Dynamite” is also nominated for The Song of 2020 alongside “Break My Heart” by Dua Lipa, “Intentions” by Justin Bieber, “Rain On Me” by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, “Rockstar” by DaBaby feat. Roddy Ricch, “Savage” by Megan Thee Stallion, “Stuck with U” by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, and “WAP” by Cardi B feat. Megan Thee Stallion.

In The Album of 2020, BTS’ “Map of the Soul: 7,” recognized as the Guinness World Records holder for the best-selling album in South Korea, is nominated together with “After Hours” by The Weeknd, “Changes” by Justin Bieber, “Chromatica” by Lady Gaga, “Folklore” by Taylor Swift, “Future Nostalgia” by Dua Lipa, “High Off Life” by Future and “YHLQMDLG” by Bad Bunny.

In the 2019 E! People’s Choice Awards, BLACKPINK won The Group of 2019, The Music Video of 2019 for “Kill This Love” and The Concert Tour of 2019.

BTS won four awards in 2018: The Group of 2018, The Song of 2018 for “Idol,” The Music Video of 2018 for “Idol” and The Social Celebrity of 2018.
